Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts • Director • ROCK ODYSSEY • 2008 – Present

Stage Director/Choreographer of this flagship arts education, live production of a rock musical of Homer's Classic, "The Odyssey”. Love originally commissioned the musical in 2004 from award winners Stephen Cole (Kleban Award) and Billy Straus (Grammy/Emmy). Douglas works closely with all departments of Miami's world-class performing arts center that produces the production each season for every fifth grader in Miami Dade County to attend free of charge. Now in its 6th year of production, nearly 175,000 students experienced this large-scale, professional, Actors' Equity prodution designed by Love's frequent collaborator, Laura Brock (7Emmys).

 
World Book, Inc./Worldbook.com Creator, Author, Playwright, “DRAMATIC LEARNING” 2008 - Present

This digital, online subscription-based product created and written by Love, delivers his career-long educational philosophy directly into classrooms allowing teachers to use plays to teach core curriculum (Science, History, Math, Reading, Writing) through the arts. Love’s plays and standards-based lessons serve more than 11 million paid subscribers annually in more than 23 countries making it the largest arts education product/program in the world.

   
Organic Valley • Creative Consultant/Writer, “THE EARTH DINNER” 2004 – Present

Created a publishing product for organic dairy giant, ORGANIC VALLEY conceiving a community & educational outreach game to help establish a meal tradition around Earth Day. Love worked closely with the company's CMO and Creative Director to develop and design the game printed as a deck of cards and also delivered digitally. At its launch, this product received 18 million press impressions and record downloads. It is annually supported through hundreds of CHEFS COLLABORATIVE restaurant pre fixe "Earth Dinners" throughout the US.

 

World Book, Inc./WorldBook.com • Concept/Content/Creative Direction • WORLD BOOK KIDS - 2006 – Present back to top

Chief content and concept creator for this company-wide initiative to reinvent the way young people use reference online. Love worked with every division of this iconic publishing company to deliver his concept and original content to create this award-winning reference and entertainment subscription product becoming the widest used English language paid children's reference site in the world with more than 20 million subscribers. Love also produced, wrote and directed an award-winning online animated tutorial for the product (WAVE and TELLY Awards) creating a dog mascot for the site that was also produced as a plush.

Love created, wrote, directed and produced 15 original animal based music videos featuring animation, stock footage and original footage. Love cast and directed all voice actors, oversaw all aspects of and directed the animation with US based animators, oversaw all post-production, negotiated all stock rights and engaged nature filmmakers to shoot new footage. Each episode features a rhyming short story (by Love) exploring multicultural folklore about how various cultures explained the animal kingdom. These videos are currently broadcast as interstitials between HBO FAMILY movies and programs.

DANON/STONYFIELD ORGANIC • Branding Consultant/Writer • OIKOS • 2007-2009  

Love wrote and conceived a script for a guerrilla marketing campaign of street theatre that played in NYC's Bryant
Park and various expos. STONYFIELD, a division of DANNON, was looking to enter the Greek yogurt market and develop a brand identity campaign for their new OIKOS product that could infiltrate a competitor’s domination of the category. Love wrote, "Jason and the Yogurtnaughts" - a comic spoof on the Greek myth of the “Jason & The Golden Fleece”. The engaging live entertainment was accompanied by sampling and coupon giveaway events.

   

Shorenstein Hays Nederlander • Producing Artistic Director • FamilyStage San Francisco • 2004-­2005

 

Ran this one-year project at the ORPHEUM THEATRE in San Francisco producing a live professional production of the award winning book and film "Holes" by Louis Sachar. Thousands of children, school groups and families in Northern California experienced this critically acclaimed production. Love worked closely with Mayor Gavin Newsom's office on education, the SF Public Library, SF Schools and the theater to pro- vide a free copy of the novel, "Holes" to more than 60,000 middle school students incorporating the reading and special curriculum into their curriculum culminating in coming to see the live production.

Love created and led a new division of this division of ANSCHUTZ FILM GROUP. WALDEN MEDIA, the movie studio that produced the NARNIA movies and other family blockbusters, partnered with Love to develop new entertainment content to be piloted before live audiences. He managed this multi-million dollar division with as many as 75 employees. He conceived 7 new titles for development and packaged a television series based on the company's successful movie, "Holes".

Walden Family Playhouse • Producing Artistic Director • 2001 – 2004  

Love worked directly with architects and builders to conceive and design this $7 million live theater venue. He ran all aspects of this division of WALDEN MEDIA built in Denver, Colorado beginning one year prior to it's opening leading all grassroots business development and staffing. He successfully ran this venue and directed all creative content, policies, operations and marketing outreach. In its' first two seasons, Love managed a multimillion dollar creative budget, produced 7 large scale, big budget, elaborate original musicals and 1 straight play commissioning award-winning writers, songwriters, directors and designers from the worlds of Broadway, film and television. More than 125,000 tickets sold and several local awards.

Love served as Creator and Executive Producer of this daily live action preschool television series based on several of his books. The 115 person crew, cast and production team shot over 100 episodes in NYC. Love executive produced this groundbreaking series, ensuring a realistic and natural performance from his young cast. During the life of the series, the show featured 300+ original songs and more than 100 art projects and stories making Love an expert in shooting and producing "how-to" and music for children's television. A generation of kids grew up with Tony, Vivian and the kids in their neighborhood who came to play in a playhouse made of boxes. It debuted as Disney Channel's top rated daytime series - a position it maintained for seven seasons winning 3 Parents Choice Awards.
